I like to listen to one AM station, less than ten miles away, which comes in perfectly on my cheap car radio. After fiddling with this Model T square am antennae for over 30 minutes, repositioning the radio all over my kitchen it still has static. So hello Panasonic, how about hiring some creative people that can come up with 21st Century sound. By the way, the antennae is so stylish sitting up on the pass-through between my kitchen and the living room. I really hate electronics wires that are not only really ugly, but also in the way. So never mind the sleek, no knob, design, this thing basically shouts UGLY.

Although it’s not my first Panasonic Audio system, it’s my first in the new millenium, and I have to say I’m impressed. Sound is rich, with deep bass and sharp treble. In max volume, it’s a little distorted, but that is expected. CD/MP3/WMA is mandatory these days, but the equalizer and re-master (volume equalization) work in its favor. The Ipod/Iphone bay is well concealed and useful, and the remote handles most tasks well. The sliding door is a neat feature, but the mechanized operation makes me fear for its longevity. Now, all of these features you can find in other systems, but the design is what has me raving to my office colleagues about it. Sleek, fits into my tiny cubicle, and belongs there. Recommended product for the office or bedroom, and with this sound quality, many other places.

I’ve had this product for a little over one month and it has met the expectations I had for it. I bought this to go in the kitchen so my wife would have something to listen to. The sound is OK and meets the needs we have to listen to it in one room. If you are looking for great sound you’ll have to spend more money. If you are looking for a portable player to take various places, I would go with something else. While it is easily moveable, I would not consider it portable. We set it up in one place and have not moved it since. I really, really like that the place where the iPod connects is in an enclosed area covered by a sliding glass door. This way the iPod doesn’t get hit when connected since the kitchen is a very busy place in our household. Other players have the iPod much too exposed where it could easily get bumped in a busy room. One feature I do not like is the FM antennae which is a thin wire that must be run up a wall. I wish it simply had an old style antennae that could be raised and lowered by hand. Other than that, it has worked well and I would buy another one for another small area such as a bedroom. A very good value considering all the choices available.
