Does this dock/speaker system allow room for a case on an iphone 2g or would I have to constantly remove it to use it?

I like this little unit. I shopped around quite a bit before deciding on this one. I wanted a charging dock for my iPhone that I could also use to play music at my office. It works great for this.
I only have 3 issues with it: docking connection, volume control and power cord.
The docking connection is just a minor issue…and my own obliviousness is to blame – I have to remove my cover in order to dock it. So this is a REALLY minor issue…but it didn’t even occur to me when I looked at the photo that I’d have to remove my cover every day before I could plug it in. It would be no big deal for someone that uses a carrying case instead of a fitted cover. Fortunately it’s easy to remove and I’m getting used to removing it now.
The volume control is a small dial that is very hard to adjust in a micro sense – I just switched it off if I get a phone call instead of trying to adjust the volume (there’s an on/off switch next to the volume dial). Keep in mind – once plugged in, there is NO sound from the phone (not even my password beeping). It does ring for alarms and incoming calls – but the usual button noises are gone. All sound comes through the speakers.
This one is my biggest issue: the power cord is WAAAAYYY too short. Who keeps their computer ON their desk anymore (unless it’s a laptop)? The plug doesn’t have a wall cord – it’s a USB so I have to plug it into my computer. The cord is only 3 ft long which is not long enough to go up behind my desk…so therefore it comes out the front of my desk & more than once my chair has gotten caught on it. I’ve started unplugging it (which turns off the charging feature) and then plugging it in under my desk when I know I’m going to be away from my desk. I am now shopping around for a longer cord – preferably one with a AC outlet instead of USB. If anyone knows where I can pick one up cheap (w/out fear of it frying my phone!), please leave me a comment! I should mention – if you’re using this bedside – the cord is probably long enough – it’s just not long enough for desk use unless your computer is on your desk. Would have preferred this unit come with an AC plug instead of a USB because at least then I could’ve used an extension cord (a cheap male/female USB extender did not work).
Someone else complained about feedback due to no GSM shielding (buzzing in the speakers). I noticed this A LOT at my house – but none at the office. I’d been waiting to post a review until I decided if I would keep it or not for this reason. Since it doesn’t happen at my office, I’ll keep it. But I’ve changed my mind about getting a second one for my house since it buzzed a lot there.

I did a lot of research before I bought this item including reading every review on the site:
1. First, it does work with iTouch 3G — that was a real question I had. You have to take it out of any case you have it in but so what.
2. Don’t have a problem with the volume switch. It is not too small and works really well. Can’t believe the sound that comes out of these little speakers! It’s at least as good as the average set of computer speakers.
3. Don’t know yet how well the battery lasts; just got it today after ordering it on Wed!
4. Did not come with an adapter to plug into the wall. If you want that you have to get one separately. Comes with the standard USB to plug into the computer. Will charge both the iPod and the speakers while it’s connected to the computer.
5. I agree with one reviewer — the instructions should have been written by someone whose first language is English. They also do not tell you how long you have to charge it for it to be fully charged.
6. Very portable; small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
7. You CAN use your iPod earbuds to listen with the iTouch hooked into the speakers so you don’t bother someone else while you are watching something. One reviewer said it didn’t work but it does. Can’t wait to watch some movies!
All in all I am very pleasantly suprised with this little unit. Hopefully I will continue to be happy with it.

I love this product. It is exactly what I was looking for. It is small, portable and when it is plugged into the wall it charges your iPhone. I use it in my very small kitchen where I can listen to music and read a recipe on the iPhone at the same time. It was very resonably priced too. Highly recommend it.

I really like this speaker system with one caveat. The volume control is miniscule…hard to use, hard to control the volume. I finally resorted to using the eraser end of a pencil to be able to raise and lower the volume. The sound is great for a unit this small.
